Students are not required to complete a scholarship application or submit recommendation forms for Clayton State scholarships managed by the Financial Aid Office. We are utilizing a scholarship software program that will identify students who meet the criteria for each scholarship.
For the scholarships managed by the Financial Aid Office, students do not need to take any action to be considered. All accepted entering freshmen, transfer, and enrolled continuing students will be automatically considered for all University- administered scholarships for which they are eligible. Some scholarships will require additional information before an award can be made. In those cases students who meet the minimum criteria will receive an email at their Clayton State email account requesting additional information. Types of Scholarships
Students are not required to complete a scholarship application or submit recommendation forms for Clayton State University scholarships that are administered by the Financial Aid Office. All accepted entering freshmen, transfer, and enrolled continuing students will be automatically considered for each University-administered scholarship for which they are eligible.
Some Clayton State scholarships are need-based. To be considered for need-based scholarships, you must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid for the appropriate academic year. Clayton State University’s school code is 008976.
In some cases additional information will be needed before the scholarship can be awarded. In that case all students who meet the criteria will be sent an email to their Clayton State account informing them of their consideration for a particular scholarship. The email will contain instructions on what the student needs to do if they wish to be considered further for that particular scholarship. Reminder - check your Clayton State email mail account frequently so you don't miss any important information!
Students receiving Clayton State University scholarship assistance cannot be awarded more than the total cost of attendance as defined annually. This applies to all financial aid regardless of source. In some cases loans, work-study, and/or scholarship awards must be adjusted to ensure that no overaward occurs.
To apply for Department Scholarships and/or External Private Scholarships, students must contact the department or organization listed. Keep in mind that the application deadlines for the Department Scholarships and External Private Scholarships vary.
The Office of Admissions must receive an admissions application and official copies of high school and/or college transcripts by the scholarship deadline. New freshmen and some transfer students will also be required to submit a copy of their SAT or ACT scores prior to the scholarship application deadline. If the scholarship is approved, your scholarship will be listed in Academic Works in approximately 7 business days. To check the status of your listing, you can do a search for your scholarship through Academic Works. Click on "Opportunities" at the top of the page in Academic Works and then select "External" in the drop-down menu.
