ACCUPLACER Tests for Summer (or Fall) Semester 2018
The University System of Georgia requires Classic ACCUPLACER (not Next Generation) testing for admission and placement of nontraditional applicants. Nontraditional applicants are exempt from taking Reading Comprehension and WritePlacer if they have transfer credit for English I or from taking Elementary Algebra if they have transfer credit for college algebra or its equivalent.
The testing sessions below are for Clayton State University nontraditional applicants, current students' placement testing, students testing remotely from other schools, and POST candidates. Testing is done at the East Entrance of Clayton State, 5823 Trammell Road, Morrow, GA 30260, in Arbor Hall, Room 121. See this map for directions: http://www.clayton.edu/maps/csueast.
We strongly recommend that future Clayton State students prepare before testing, particularly in algebra. Minimum scores are required for admission. Here is the official ACCUPLACER preparation website: https://accuplacer.collegeboard.org/students/prepare-for-accuplacer. Also see the section below on "Preparing."
Math tutoring may be available from the Center for Academic Success (CAS) for nontraditional applicants. The CAS will also offer two Saturday algebra workshops on March 10 and April 7. Call the CAS at (678) 466-4070 or email them at firstname.lastname@example.org to make your appointments for algebra assistance.
Admitted students may take ACCUPLACER Elementary Algebra as an appeal to be placed into MATH 1101 or 1111 without remediation. Admitted students may also take ACCUPLACER College-Level Math as an appeal to start in a higher-level mathematics course than MATH 1101 or 1111. See your advisor before scheduling.
No calculators are allowed except those provided on the ACCUPLACER screen. The fee is $20 for Clayton State University and POST testing and retesting; $30 for all remote testing.
ACCUPLACER testing appointments are required. Please schedule your exam by calling the Testing Center at (678) 466-4495 at least a week in advance.
We strongly recommend that you prepare for your test so that your scores will reflect your true level of ability--especially if you have been out of school for a few years. Our students recommended these sites for preparation: http://purplemath.com, http://www.testprepreview.com/, or www.khanacademy.org, and you may want to search the web for additional sites.
Get the ACCUPLACER free app: https://accuplacer.collegeboard.org/students/prepare-for-accuplacer or visit this website if you are appealing to start at a higher level of math:
https://accuplacer.collegeboard.org/students/prepare-for-accuplacer. Tests are multiple choice except the WritePlacer, where you will actually type a response. Only two exams are allowed in a semester, and the fee is $20 for each exam.
Scores from admission and placement testing will be available to your advisor at orientation. Your advisor will register you for classes, based upon your test scores. For more information about orientation, see the Orientation website or call Orientation at (678) 466-4115.
